February 2011 – Snow At Laura’s and Steve’s

Monday, April 4th, 2011

Even Skiatook had snow, in fact they had more snow than we did. Lucky for the people in this area, most of them had 4 wheel drive vehicle’s. These are some of the pictures taken at Steve’s and Laura’s place during and after the storm.

Dustin liked playing in the snow.

February 2011 – Day 4/5

Sunday, April 3rd, 2011

More new snow last night which requires cleaning off the drive and sidewalks again. All walks and the drive will be cleaned by the end of the day. It looks like we may be able to get the truck out tomorrow but not the cars. The snow in the streets is to high and high centers the cars. Maybe it will get warmer next week and we can possibly get out.

February 2011 – Thursday

Sunday, April 3rd, 2011

More of the driveway was cleared today even though its cold and dreary out there. We have a load of snow on the truck as we will need the extra weight if and when we get out of the drive way.

February 2011 – Snow Is The Subject

Sunday, April 3rd, 2011

We had just completed a dry 5 to 6 months in this part of Oklahoma, well as for much of Oklahoma and then the month of February came along. Within a week we had 26 inches of snow and very cold temperatures. Usually it snow and then 60 degrees and everything melts. Not the case this time.

Lucky we were prepared for this week as we had purchased food. We already had snow shovels so we were prepared. But not for the volumes we received. 16 inches the first day, followed by 6 inches the next storm a day and a half later to be followed by another 4 inch a couple of days later.  26 inches of snow and heavy winds. What didn’t fall from the sky just drifted as the wind just ranked the landscape.

We did manage to keep the driveway almost clean (at times). We had a walk way cleared on day two but that really did do any good. No one, the paper guy, the mailman or the guys picking up trash even made it out themselves. Our neighbor did get out day two as he had a 4 wheeled drive pick-up. He at least had made tracks.

On day four we got a paper and it was a week before the trash guys got around. The city is not prepared for this type of snow. They don’t have the plows or other equipment to clear things up. It was over a week before school got back into session mainly because you couldn’t use the street getting to the schools.

We finally got out on the weekend after getting struck as the pick-up was tossed into the curb. I had the shovels with me but I got out of the cab and locked the keys in the cab. Marie and our grandson Matthew saved me by bringing (walking) an extra set of keys to me.

This was all an experience we won’t forget very soon.

I’ll first show you some of the pictures Matt took at his place. He is really out in the country and they are probably subject to a lot more wind than we are here in Tulsa.

The pictures I’m going to show are based around shovelling the driveway and side walks. Always out in Scott City that was the first thing Dad did or had us do, get the sidewalks cleared so people could get around. I guess that notion has stayed with me.

1st Day – First five pictures are from Matt’s Place. The rest are from ours.

January 2011 – Stephanie At The Rose Bowl

Saturday, April 2nd, 2011

Stephanie Taylor is the grand-daughter of Dick Taylor and therefore a cousin of Marie’s.

A student at TCU College, she is a member of the Dance Team. Accordingly she attends all of the sporting events of the TCU team(s). The pictures here are just some of those taken by her parents (at the Rose Bowl) who were also in attendance. The team performed and attended Disneyland also.

Plus TCU beat Wisconsin.

January 2011 – Alexis’ 9th Birthday

Saturday, April 2nd, 2011

The weather was turning bad on this Sunday. The weather was a prelude to a bad two months plus of real lousy weather for this part of the country. The celebration of Alexis’ birthday was not on the 4th but on a Sunday.

December 2010 – Animals Near Skiatook Oklahoma

Friday, April 1st, 2011

Pictured below are a couple of pictures Laura shoot just outside there home north-west of Skiatook. They have a corn feeder for the deer in this area.

December 2010 – Stephanie

Friday, April 1st, 2011

I’ve shown you some of the pictures I picked up off of Facebook and here are some more. Stephanie is really getting into the swing of things and you tell how proud she is of being at TCU as well as a part of the TCU Dance Squad. This is really hard work and takes a lot of extra time in practice and performing plus the studying she has to do as part of coming to college. I don’t really know all the “stuff” that is included and required of her but I’m sure its more than for the average student.

Here are some of the latest pictures taken at some of the TCU football games as well as high school and college basketball games.

Remember, you can increase the size of the picture by moving the computer pointer over a picture and doing a right mouse click. To get back to the normal show, click on the left arrow on the address line.

December 2010 – Sarah Albright’s First Child

Friday, April 1st, 2011

On December 26, Sandra Albright and Taylor Clark brought a new child into the world.

Announcing

Now Audrey was a little early, and maybe a little small but she did well and after a prolonged stay in the hospital was finally released and taken home by the proud parents. The pictures below are from the early days through parts of January as I picked them up from Facebook.

Hope you enjoy.

December 2010 – Christmas Time

Friday, April 1st, 2011

As usual, each of the families had there individual gift opening at there residences either on Christmas Eve or on Christmas morning. This was for the Langley’s, the Johnson’s and the Matt Loveless’ family. Of course Mark is in Arlington Texas with most of his family. Then around noon Christmas Day, everyone came to the house here in Tulsa for dinner. It was after dinner that we all exchanged gifts which is quite a trick for so many people. Three from the Langley’s, four from Matt’s (three of his kids were at there Mom’s for Christmas and got our gifts Christmas eve), four from Karen’s (had a new one from Karen’s as Kyle’s room mate from Stillwater was also here – Tyler Valdez ) and Marie and Bud. That’s 14 heads eating and opening gifts. Lordy if Mark and his total gang and Matt’s other 3 were here that would be another 14. After our get together some of the individuals were going to other dinners and gift exchanges so it was a little busy throughout the total day.
