June 2010 – Father’s Day

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

Father’s Day was a little limited this year as Steve, Laura and Dustin had other plans initially. They were at Steve’s parents house. They did show up later but I got no shots. As a manor of fact the camera was not working so I had to get my new camera out. Problem was, the batteries were bad.

May 2010 – Memorial Day – Marion Kansas

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

These are some of the pictures taken by Jane and Bud at Marion. Jane was there on Friday and Bud was there on Sunday.  It was a couple of hours trip for Jane to get to Marion. Bud had a four hour trip from Tulsa.

I believe Jane’s return trip to Topeka was un-eventful. Bud’s return trip was a bad one as I fought the rain and wind for the first two hours on the return to Tulsa.

It has been a number of years since Jim cleaned the stones at the family site. I did find that the head stone’s were some what dirty and need to be re-cleaned. I will get back there before next Memorial Day and give them a cleaning.

May 2010 – Dustin’s 4th Grade Spring Presentation

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

What is displayed here is the “4th Grade Spring Presentation” of the Skiatook School System. Now you have to understand that grades Kindergarden thru 2nd grade are in one area of town, 3rd, 4th & 5th is in another area, and the  intermediate school 6th thru 8th is in another area and High Scholl in another area. (I probably have this all screwed up but it is something like that.)  All this for a small town in Oklahoma. Laura is an assistant teacher in the school system. She is primarily in the lower grades but also handles as high as high school when assigned.

Get this. There are six (6) or was it seven (7) 4th grades. Why so many students? The city of Skiatook has a county line through the middle of town. And there are small home communities throughout both counties. The bus routes are from highway 75 on the east to the end of Skiatook lake on the west, from just north of Sperry on the south to just south of Avant on the North. So this all the kids participating, it was a very long presentation.

I will only show the different murals the students had made covering the growth of Oklahoma. From the Indian living and coming to Oklahoma (The Land Of The Red-men) till reaching for the stars by some of the Oklahoma citizens that served as astronauts. They even had a live presentation by Indians along with the drums and chantings.

Late April 2010 – Dustin’s Baseball Team

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

Even though it is still April, baseball season for the kids (or maybe for the Dad’s) is still going strong. The pictures are of the first tournament of the year or at least the end results of the first tournament. I would have had pictures of the game but I never did find the field(s) they were playing on.

Anyway, the team, The Skiatook Bulldogs, took second place. Dustin plays short stop primarily, second base and also pitches. By the way, Steve is one of the 3 assistant coaches.

April 2010 – Front Yard

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

This is an update on the yard. Didn’t get any of the Miniature Crape Myrtle bushes shown as they are a month or two behind all the other bushes. The Azalea Brushes are in full bloom.  Even the grass is beginning to green up. This is true of all the types of Burmuda grasses that I have in the yard. These Burmuda grasses go dorment in the late fall and then come back in the Spring.  The March display of the Yard did show that the back-yard grass was brown.

April 4th 2010 – Marie’s 75th Birthday

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

A good spring day with temperatures in the 70′s and 80′s. There was good outdoor time just running around or shooting baskets. Even the in-door time was relaxing, playing games and just talking.

This is a big birthday being the 75th. Next big one is 2015 when Marie will be 80.
